Blinder: A Scotch Cocktail

The Blinder scotch cocktail.

If you like scotch, the Blinder is one you might want to try…but beware

There’s something to be said about the name of a cocktail, especially when it’s as ominous as the Blinder. It may contain simple ingredients, but it has a kick and is an acquired taste, much as is the scotch that provides the punch.

The Blinder works best with a blended Scotch whiskey, but I have tried them with single malts and even peated Scotch (which will really knock your socks off). It’s best to stick with the standard the first time you craft one of these in your home bar.

Blinder Cocktails Ingredients

  • 2 oz blended scotch

  • 5 oz grapefruit juice

  • 1 teaspoon grenadine

Stir the scotch and grapefruit juice in a highball glass with ice. As a last step, add the grenadine on top in the middle. Garnish with grapefruit or orange twist or wedge.
