Will You Be Wine? A wine cocktail recipe
Will You Be Wine? Recipe for a delicious wine cocktail.
A wine-based cocktail with the warmth of red wine and a touch of cinnamon spice
Will You Be Wine? is a cocktail that I created originally for Valentine's Day, but it's really a great any-time-of-year cocktail for the wine lover. (I have to credit my wife Erin for the naming of this cocktail.)
So whether it's Valentine's Day, a proposal you may be planning or any other special occasion where you want a nice wine-based cocktail, Will You Be Wine? is a great one to serve.
The flavor profile features red wine (I use a Shiraz, but any red wine favorite of yours will work), along with Pomegranate juice, a cinnamon spice note from Goldschlager Cinnamon Liqueur and a little light sweetness from fresh squeezed blood orange juice. If you like sangria, then you’ll probably like Will You Be Wine?

Will You Be Wine? Cocktail Recipe
2 oz red wine
2 oz Pom Pomegranate Juice
1 oz Goldschlager Cinnamon Liqueur
1/2 oz blood orange juice (fresh squeezed)
Garnish with a brulee'd blood orange twirl
Even though it features red wine, Will You Be Wine is meant to be served chilled. So you can either pre-chill the wine and all ingredients, or shake this cocktail and strain into a serving glass.
Will You Be Wine? is perfect for any mood.
For the brulee'd blood orange twirl, a kitchen torch works best. Slice the blood orange into a couple of twirls and use the remainder of the orange for the juice. Pat the blood orange twirls with a paper towel to remove some of the wetness and let them dry for approx. 30 minutes. Then, sprinkle granulated sugar on each twirl and torch them (on a metal cookie sheet) until you get the desired amount of burnt orange peel and caramelized sugar. Dust them lightly with cinnamon and let them cool.
Tip: you may want to do this outdoors or under your kitchen fan hood, as the burn from the brulee will set off smoke detectors.
