Creekside Sauvignon Blanc 2021 Aroma

Before taking a first sip, I gave this Sauvignon Blanc a swirl and a sniff to see what aromas I could detect.

The general aroma is light-medium intensity with an airy and pleasant fruitiness. It’s a good start and invites you to explore further. Specific aromas I could detect included pink grapefruit right up front as the dominant aroma. It is slightly (and invitingly) sweet smelling and there is an undercurrent that is more mineral in nature. I would describe the overall scent experience as somewhat tropical, with the citrus at the forefront.

All in all, the aroma is a very good introduction to this wine.

Creekside Sauvignon Blanc 2021 On First Sip

On first sip, Creekside Sauvignon Blanc is medium-bodied with a medium flavor intensity. There is some acidity present, but it is not overly acidic.

Creekside Sauvignon Blanc is very well-balanced. Following up on the aroma, this wine has a decidedly fruity flavor profile, but it is not sweet. Flavors are more muted than what I expected based on the smell, but it is a very well balanced wine. Hints of the grapefruit are there, with some lemon and a touch of light berry sweetness (although I could not nail down which berry, but possibly a blackberry). More comes through in the flavor than came through from the aroma, which is a nice build when you’re drinking it.

Creekside Sauvignon Blanc is ever-so-slightly crisp and just very refreshing. Plus, it has a nice tang to it, which I enjoy.

Creekside Winery Tasting Notes

For the sommeliers out there, Creekside notes:

Soft pear with zingy yuzu, white grapefruit and pea pod aromatics on the nose. The palate shows pear, Meyer lemon, gooseberry and pea pod flavours. Very pleasing mouthfeel with crisp citrus acidity. Classic Sauvignon Blanc character!

Final Thoughts

If you enjoy a light, slightly crisp and perfectly fruity (but not sweet) white wine, Creekside Sauvignon Blanc 2021 is very easy drinking and enjoyable. It is surprisingly complex and well balanced, but also very approachable and flexible. It is equally good on its own or paired with your favorite dishes.

Creekside Sauvignon Blanc is a great choice as a go-to white for you and your guests. It is a wine that I would buy again and add to my wine rack. It has made me rethink (in a good way) my approach to Sauvignon Blanc wines (which are not always on my radar).

Creekside Winery is located in Jordan, Ontario.
