The blend of the Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault grapes works beautifully here to create something that is very enjoyable.

Côte des Roses Rosé 2022 Overview

Côte des Roses Rosé is a French wine from the Languedoc region of France. It is a blend of three grapes: Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah (Shiraz). It is an interesting pale orange rose color and comes in at 13% ABV.

Côte des Roses Rosé 2022 Aroma

Most reviews for this wine do not mention aroma at all, which I found to be intriguing so I was looking forward to seeing what I could detect.

Before taking a first sip, I gave this wine a swirl in the glass to release the aromas.

The aroma is medium intensity and light, but with a delicate hint of sweetness. There is some pink grapefruit in the citrus notes and — interestingly — floral notes that struck me as rose-like.

Overall the aroma is quite pleasant and welcoming. Now, on to the taste test.

Côte des Roses Rosé 2022 on First Sip

On first sip, Côte des Roses Rosé 2022 is medium-full bodied with a medium-strong flavor intensity. This wine is dry and slightly acidity.

The flavors are complex and well balanced. While the flavor is somewhat bold, it is not overpowering. There are hints of wild strawberry and ripe berries, with the citrus notes from the aroma taking a back seat. This wine has a long, lingering and flavorful finish.

Gerard Bertrand Winery Tasting Notes

For the sommeliers out there, Gerard Bertrand describes this wine as follows:

This cuvée Cote des Roses celebrates the Mediterranean Art de Vivre . The soil, very varied, is essentially made up of hard limestone of the garrigues, schistose soils but also of gravel brought by the rivers of Languedoc. The climate, warm and windy ("semi-arid Mediterranean climate with mild winter variations") favors the maturation of the grapes and their good health, while maintaining coolness thanks to the altitude and the effect of the sea, which attenuates the high summer temperatures. Its bottle is unique with a rose-shaped bottom, created by a young designer from the Ecole Boulle . It is a wine that is offered as a bouquet of Rose!

Final Thoughts: Côte des Roses Rosé 2022

If you enjoy a good rosé, Côte des Roses Rosé 2022 is definitely one to try.

This wine will appeal to anyone who wants a somewhat bold rosé that is filled with character. The blend of the Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault grapes works beautifully here to create something that is very enjoyable. I would not hesitate to serve this to guests for any occasion.

I also have to mention the packaging of this wine. The bottle is a work of art. From the intricate rose pattern on the bottom, to the unique glass cork stopper, Côte des Roses Rosé 2022 is a showpiece both for its wine quality and presentation. They even have a little fun with the QR code on the back label, so be sure to give that a try. If you're going to put that much thought and effort into your bottle packaging, the product inside better deliver. Fortunately, in this case, it certainly does.

All in all, Côte des Roses Rosé 2022 is well worth a spot on your home wine rack.

Gérard Bertrand winery is located in Narbonne, France.
