How to Make a Hurricane Cocktail
Easy Summertime Cocktails: The Hurricane
One of my favorite summer rum cocktails is the classic Hurricane. It's Five O'clock Somewhere, right? For this one I reach for Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum.
A Hurricane is great for any rum drinker or Tiki cocktail aficionado because it's bursting with tropical summer flavors and it's super easy to prepare. This makes the Hurricane a great go-to cocktail for chilling in your backyard with a small group or friends, or for serving to a larger group of guests.
As a rum-based cocktail, there is no shortage of rum choices. For a Hurricane, I like to go with a bold spiced rum, like Sailor Jerry. Sailor Jerry spiced rum is bold, yet smooth and wonderfully flavorful, making it an excellent complement to the sweet and sour elements of the Hurricane.
The Drinks of Summer: How to Make a Hurricane Cocktail
Hurricane Ingredients
2 oz Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum
1 oz Monin Passion Fruit Syrup
1 oz fresh squeezed Lemon Juice
1/2 oz DaVinci Pure Cane Syrup
Here's how easy it is to make a Hurricane
Simply combine all ingredients into a glass of your choice (a Hurricane glass, pictured, is always a nice touch), fill with crushed ice and garnish with a lemon wedge. I've noted my favorite ingredients for a Hurricane, but you can of course substitute your own favorites or whatever you have on hand.
By the way, the Hurricane is also a great summer cocktail that you can make in a pitcher for easy pouring and refills. Just increase the quantities proportionately.
And you don't need a Tiki bar setup to enjoy one.
